We are often able to obtain substantial settlements before trial because insurance companies and the defense know that our firm thoroughly investigates every claim and is always well-prepared to try each case.

This matters especially in a city like Los Angeles, where personal injury cases often involve well-funded corporate defendants, large insurance carriers, and aggressive defense teams. Our clients benefit from a firm that prepares every case with the same level of rigor — whether it involves a straightforward car accident claim or a complex multi-party lawsuit arising from a serious truck or motorcycle crash on an LA freeway.

Questions we hear from Los Angeles clients

How long do I have to file a claim in Los Angeles?
Most California personal injury claims must be filed within two years of the injury under Code of Civil Procedure section 335.1. If the claim is against the City of Los Angeles, LA Metro, the County or another public entity, a written claim generally has to be presented within six months, which catches a lot of people out after bus, sidewalk and dangerous-road-condition injuries.

The insurer says the crash was partly my fault. Does that end it?
No. California uses pure comparative negligence, so your recovery is reduced by your percentage of fault but is not barred by it. Being assigned some share of blame is not the same as having no claim.

Where would my case be filed?
Civil personal injury matters arising in Los Angeles County are filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court. Most cases resolve without a trial, but the filing venue shapes the timetable.

Where a Los Angeles injury case is filed

Personal injury lawsuits arising in Los Angeles are filed in the Superior Court of California, County of Los Angeles. Which courthouse hears your case depends on where the injury occurred and the court’s current case-assignment rules, which have changed in recent years — your attorney handles venue and assignment as part of filing. Most injury claims resolve by settlement without a lawsuit ever being filed, but every demand we make is prepared as if the case will be tried in this court.

Los Angeles injury claims: quick answers

How long do I have to file? Generally two years from the injury under California law, but only six months to present a government claim if a city, county, or state entity is involved — common in LA cases involving buses, government vehicles, or dangerous road conditions. Confirm your exact deadline with an attorney; tolling rules can change it.

What if I was partly at fault? California follows pure comparative negligence: your recovery is reduced by your percentage of fault, not eliminated. Being partly responsible does not mean you have no case.

What does it cost to hire you? Nothing up front. We work on contingency — our fee is a percentage of what we recover, case costs are typically advanced, and if there is no recovery you owe us no fee. You get the agreement in writing before we start.
