REPRESENTING CALIFORNIA’S INJURED & WRONGED

B&D Law Group, APLC has recovered millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for our clients, including a number of recoveries of $1 million or more. What brings us the most pride about these results is that they changed our clients’ lives. That is the most rewarding part of the practice: helping people rebuild after a serious accident or the loss of someone they love. Our California personal injury attorneys are not afraid to take a case to trial, and when defendants do not pay, this office has the resources to collect.

You can read about our published appellate victory in Kaney v. Custance, a landmark premises liability decision.

How to read the numbers below

The results on this page span 2015 to 2024 and cover a range of case types. They are real outcomes in real matters, but they are not a forecast. Every case turns on its own facts: the severity and permanence of the injury, the available insurance coverage, the defendant’s conduct, how clearly liability can be proved, and the share of fault a jury might assign. Two cases that look similar on paper can resolve very differently, and a large verdict in one matter says nothing about what any other claim is worth. Past results do not guarantee a similar outcome.

What the figures do show is the kind of case this office takes on and is prepared to try rather than settle cheaply. That matters, because the value of a claim is shaped in part by whether the other side believes you are willing to go to trial.

What the categories mean

Premises liability is the largest single group here, with eight results ranging from $500,000 to $9.75 million. These are injuries on someone else’s property, and they usually turn on notice: whether the owner knew or should have known about the hazard. Inspection logs, incident reports and camera footage decide most of them, and all three are discarded on a schedule. See premises liability and dog bites.

Dangerous road design accounts for two of the largest results on the page, at $23 million and $13.53 million. These are claims against public entities over how a road was built or maintained, and they are among the hardest cases to bring. They also carry a much shorter deadline: a claim against a government body generally has to be presented within six months under Government Code section 911.2, rather than the usual two years.

Collisions appear across several headings here, including truck against car, car against pedestrian and car against van. Where a commercial vehicle is involved the case is built differently, on hours-of-service records, maintenance histories and electronic logging data held by the carrier. See truck accidents, car accidents, pedestrian accidents and motorcycle accidents.

Wrongful death includes the largest result on this page. A wrongful death claim belongs to a defined group of surviving family members set by statute, and a separate survival action can run alongside it for what the person endured before they died. See wrongful death and catastrophic injury.

What this does not tell you

These are the results we are able to publish. They do not include matters resolved under confidentiality terms, cases that settled before filing, or claims we declined to bring. They also cannot tell you what your own case is worth, and anyone who quotes you a number before reading your medical records and the police report is guessing. If you want an honest read on where you stand, a case review is free and carries no obligation.
